SSE Energy Solutions
SSE Road to Renewables.
With COP26 likely to dominate the headlines, we wanted to secure high impact coverage for SSE Energy Solutions. But how could we cut through the noise of this global event? Our solution was a bus trip with a difference.

Planning the trip
The idea was simple: drive an SSE Energy Solutions electric bus from London to Glasgow stopping at some of their key renewable energy, sustainable transport and smart city projects along the way while engaging with local and national media throughout. It was an incredibly ambitious, logistically demanding project but slick coordination, strong teamwork and agile juggling from both client and agency made it a resounding success.
Working hand in glove with multiple stakeholders
We created a critical timeline, a detailed campaign plan, advised on the look of the bus, wrote regionally targeted press releases, issued thought leadership articles, briefed multiple interviewees, managed myriad of photocalls and filming ops, prepared FAQs, and engaged with key politicians and stakeholders.
Hot Tin Roof kicked off the road trip with a live interview of SSE’s MD Nathan Sanders on Kay Burley’s Sky News show. We secured nationwide coverage in the mainstream and trade press, on radio, and on television. We also brought senior politicians to the bus including the UK’s Transport Minister, the Secretary of State for Scotland, two mayors, eight council leaders and Scotland’s then First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.
“Hot Tin Roof delivered on all fronts. This was good, old-fashioned PR done well, and we continue to receive recognition across SSE and beyond for their efforts. We are delighted to continue working with this talented team.”
