It’s been a manic month here in Edinburgh. If you didn’t bend over backwards to catch as many Fringeshows as possible, then you probably spent your time carefully avoiding the endless crowds on your way to and from work every day.

Now the mayhem is finally over, there’s still plenty left to see and do! Check out Hot Tin Roof’s pick of the hottest tech meetups and events you won’t want to miss this month…

Hack for the Homeless

At the start of this month, Edinburgh Napier University will be organising a “hackathon” in aid of Action for Children in support of ByteNight which will see Scotland’s tech community have the chance to band together using their skills to work on solutions for those suffering from or at risk of homelessness.

The event takes place from Saturday 1st to Sunday 2nd of September and you can register your interest here.

Codebase Commons

The Commons is Edinburgh’s monthly get-together for anybody in tech. Organised by the UK’s largest tech incubator, Codebase, this months event takes place at Paradise Palms on the 6th of September.

CodeClan Edinburgh: CoderDojo

CoderDojo Scotland is part of a global collaboration that provides free coding clubs to young people, enabling them to learn how to programme in a fun, safe and sociable environment. If you, or anybody you know, is interested in getting involved, there are meetups this month on the 13th in Leith, the 19th in Stockbridge, and the 20th at CodeClan.

Women Who Code

Women Who Code is a global non-profit that dedicates itself to inspiring women to get involved in technology careers and promoting women in tech. The Edinburgh branch gets together once a month. Check them out on the 25th of September at the FreeAgent offices in Fountainbridge!

ScotSoft

ScotlandIS presents its annual conference featuring the best of the Scottish tech sector on the 27th of September at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Over 1300 delegates are expected to attend this year for the event, which will feature speakers from all across the world including Eric McAfee, a Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur and venture capitalist, and Dave McCann, VP of AWS Marketplace.
