Interactive ‘Crimbo Limbo’ gin calendar finally names curious period between Christmas and New Year
Summerhall Distillery, the Edinburgh-based maker of Pickering’s Gin and The Broody Hen Scotch Whisky, has unveiled a tongue-in-cheek “Crimbo Limbo” gin calendar to help people keep track of what day it is between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.
Pickering’s Gin is the Edinburgh distillery that ‘broke the internet’ a few years ago when its unique gin-filled Christmas baubles sold out in just 82 seconds. The brand is back with the next ‘must have’ gift for Christmas.
For inspiration, the gin maker turned to its fan club of 30,000 “Ginfriends” to determine if the phrase “Crimbo Limbo” was the most fun and festive name for this curious time of the year.
Behind each door is a miniature bottle of Pickering’s award-winning gin and a handy note to remind people what they should be doing on each of the six days – from checking if the turkey is still okay to eat, through to packing the in-laws off home again.
As well as its signature London Dry gin, the limited edition calendar includes exclusive festive flavours like Chocolate Orange and Spiced Pear & Cinnamon making this the ideal treat for any gin aficionado. A QR code on the packaging takes the consumer to the Summerhall Distillery YouTube channel, which provides a unique interactive perfect serve suggestion carefully matched to each miniature. Gin drinkers can easily follow along from home with the online step-by-step tutorial which is updated daily.
Just 10,000 of the limited-edition “Crimbo Limbo” gin calendars will go on sale on 18 October 2023 on the Summerhall Distillery website and through independent retailers, with a recommended selling price of £30.
Pickering’s Gin has a track record of infusing holiday spirits with adventurous creations. From Brussels Sprout flavoured gin to the pioneering gin baubles, their innovations continue to leave their mark.
